Early morning golf club walk leads to charges

On Aug. 4, 2020 the Communications Centre of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Orillia received a complaint at 2:04 a.m. from a Midland resident reporting suspicious persons checking out parked vehicles on College Street, Midland.

Attending officers put the grab on a person walking down the street at 2:09 a.m. with a set of golf clubs. Further search of the person resulted in recovering a number of debit and gift cards and a sum of loose Canadian currency coin.

Charged is Anita Rose Robichaud, 46 years old of no fixed address, with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Trespassing at Night
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of a Credit Card
  • Theft of Credit Card

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a video bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date. The recovered stolen property has been returned to the rightful owners who thank those community minded members that "made the call to police"
