TAY TOWNSHIP - While on traffic patrol on Highway 400 near the Vasey Road exit in Severn Township, a member of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle at 8:30 p.m. on May 6, 2020 after noting a speeding offence of 168km/hr in a 100km/hr zone.

After completing the traffic violation investigation, the officer provided the 22-year-old female driver from Georgetown a future Provincial Offences court date, seized her licence for seven days and her vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days as per the conditions of the administrative drivers licence suspension (ADLS).

OPP officers remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways and trails. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority
