Police laid 48 charges while inspecting commercial vehicles Thursday in Midland.
Officers from Southern Georgian Bay OPP, Huronia West OPP and the OPP Central Region Traffic Unit were joined by Ministry of Transportation officials for the blitz set up on Wye Valley Road at Highway 12.
Twenty-four vehicles were inspected, and the following charges were laid: unsafe vehicle (one), mechanical defects (four), fail to conduct trip inspections (12), fail to have a commercial vehicle operators registration (three), load security (four), improper licence (six), seatbelt violation (one), mandatory document violations (eight), and periodic mandatory commercial vehicle inspection (nine).
Police removed three vehicles that required major mechanical service.
