Innisfil, ON - The body of a missing boater has been recovered on Kempenfelt Bay in Innisfil.
She has been identified as 21-year-old Kenean Teklemariam of Scarborough who went missing on Thursday, September 3, 2020 around 3:00 p.m. after falling off a boat while touring with friends.
A search was launched immediately involving marine units from South Simcoe Police Service (SSPS), Barrie Police Service, York Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. SSPS also deployed its drone. Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service and County of Simcoe Paramedics also responded along with OPP air support.
Her body was recovered around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020, in the search area. Next of kin have been notified. A post mortem will be conducted. The investigation is ongoing.
