Belligerent Tiny Township man faces serious charges

24-year-old is accused of causing a disturbance, assault, drunk driving and uttering threats - and refusing to comply with a breath demand

TINY TOWNSHIP, ON - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment were contacted at 2:13 p.m. on Feb. 28, 2020, by a resident of a multi-unit dwelling regarding a male who was causing a disturbance among residents of the building. A confrontation occurred in the parking lot of the complex and the male assaulted and threatened another person. The male, who was believed to have been drinking alcohol, then left in a vehicle.

A short time later a collision was reported involving the same vehicle on a Tiny Township concession road. The vehicle lost control in poor weather conditions and became lodged in a snowbank. Police attended and identified the driver of the vehicle and entered into a drinking and driving investigation.

After further investigation, Dylan Tizzard, 24 years of Tiny Township has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Operation while impaired - Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Refusal to Comply with Breath Demand

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the driver's license of the accused has been suspended for 90 days. The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland in April 2020.
