Police searching for driver of truck that struck pedestrian Tuesday evening

Police in Sudbury are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run collision Tuesday evening.

Officers were called to the intersection of Walford Road at Ramseyview Court shortly before 7 p.m.

Police say a light coloured Dodge Ram pickup travelling westbound on Walford Road did not stop after hitting a female pedestrian.

A witness to the collision called 9-1-1 and tried to help the woman, who was taken to hospital where she died of her injuries.

Investigators are canvassing the area for video footage of the suspect vehicle, which was last seen travelling westbound on Walford Road towards Regent Street.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service Traffic Management Unit is continuing their investigation into the collision.
