Police say one killed, one hurt in alleged drunk driving hit-and-run in Ajax, Ont.

AJAX, Ont. — A 29-year-old man is facing numerous charges following an alleged hit-and-run that left a 73-year-old woman dead and sent another person to hospital on Saturday.

Durham Regional Police say an allegedly stolen pickup truck collided with a car early Saturday morning in Ajax, Ont.

They say the person killed was a passenger in a vehicle, while the 40-year-old woman behind the wheel suffered critical injuries.

No names were released.

Police allege a suspect fled the scene of the crash and was arrested a short time later.

The 29-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing death, theft and driving without a licence.
