Ontario toddler hit by car, in hospital with life-threatening injuries: police

Toronto-area police say a toddler struck by a vehicle on Sunday is in hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Durham Regional Police say the child was hit in a residential area of Ajax, Ont., on Sunday evening.

Officers were called to a home at 7:15 p.m. after receiving a report that a two-year-old child had been hit by a vehicle.

Police say the driver was reversing into his driveway when he struck the child. 

The toddler was taken to a trauma centre for treatment.

The force's collision investigation unit was at the scene and police are still seeking information and witnesses.
