Ontario reports people 1,362 in hospital with COVID-19, 212 in ICUs

Ontario is reporting 1,362 people in hospital with COVID-19 today, a decrease from 1,684 the previous day.

The province has previously said not all hospitals report their data on weekends.

The province is also reporting 212 COVID-19 patients in intensive care, unchanged from Saturday.

The province recorded three new deaths from the virus today.

There are 4,098 new COVID-19 cases, but the province says the count may be higher because of cases that were not reported in the last few days due to service degradation in its case and contact management system.

Access to PCR testing is restricted, and the scientific director of Ontario's panel of COVID-19 advisers has said wastewater surveillance suggests the province is seeing between 100,000 and 120,000 new cases each day.

The test positivity rate is 15.5 per cent today.
