One dead, three injured in two-vehicle crash north of Toronto

TORONTO — A woman is dead and three others are injured after a car crashed into a minivan on Highway 400 north of Toronto Friday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say a red Volkswagen Jetta collided with a minivan around on Highway 400 near Rutherford Road in Vaughan, Ont., around 3 a.m.

They say a woman in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene and three other passengers were transported to hospital with injuries. 

Police say the driver of the Volkswagen was last seen walking away from the crash. 

They say all Highway 400 southbound lanes between Rutherford Road and Highway 7 are closed as police investigate. 

Police say the highway is expected to reopen around 9 a.m.
