Man, 21, charged after 85-year-old woman found dead in Georgina

TORONTO — A 21-year-old man is facing several criminal charges, including first degree murder, after a woman was found dead in a burned home earlier this year. 

York Regional Police say emergency crews responded to a fire at a home in Georgina, Ont., on Jan. 15, just after 5 a.m. 

They say an 85-year-old woman was found dead after the fire was put out. 

Police say the woman was the homeowner. 

They say a 21-year-old man was arrested last month and charged with first degree murder, sexual assault and arson with disregard for human life. 

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
