Girl, 10, dies after being struck by vehicle in Kingston, Ont., on Monday

KINGSTON, Ont. — Police say a 10-year-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle near a school in Kingston, Ont. 

Local police say a pickup truck hit the girl around 3:40 p.m. on Monday, as she was crossing a street near the school. 

They say the child was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. 

Police say the driver of the pickup truck immediately stopped, stayed on scene, and has been co-operative. 

No charges have been laid at this time.

Police say the family of the child, who has not been named, has requested privacy.
