Fourteen-year-old girl pronounced dead after shooting in Mississauga, Ont.

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Police west of Toronto say a 14-year-old girl was shot and killed in Mississauga, Ont., last night. 

Peel police say someone called 911 at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday to ask officers to check on a girl's wellbeing.

They say that when they arrived at the apartment building, officers found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. 

First-responders tried to revive her, but they say she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they're investigating the incident as a homicide, but the exact circumstances surrounding it are still under investigation. 

They have not released any information on a suspect.
