June 19, 1938 ~ February 24, 2021 (age 82)
It is with saddened hearts that we say goodbye to our dear Mother Rosemary A. Yates who was born in Winnipeg to her loving parents William and Margaret Bircham on June 19 1938, where she grew up to obtain athlete of the year status at her high school.
All who knew Mom would know she always enjoyed a good game and had a competitive spirit. Moving to Toronto in 1958, she met and married the love of her life, the late R. Ivor Yates. Loving Mother to her 3 children, Mom's goal to ensure a happy, healthy home for her family was realized tenfold. It is well known she was the fun Mom. We can never thank Mom enough for providing us with such a wonderful childhood. Again, thank you Mom. Moving to Midland 30 years ago, we expected Mom's life might slow down a little.
On the contrary, she ramped up her lifestyle becoming actively involved with near everything her community had to offer, including her Church, the Askennonia club, walking club, shuffleboard, volunteering at the hospital and countless other events where if her help was needed, she was there. To our Mom's dear friends, please know she cherished her friendship with all of you. Our Mom passed peacefully on February 24, 2021 at Tomkins House Hospice Huronia, where her last days were made comfortable by the incredible staff there. We thank you all. Mom is survived by her 3 children, John (Bev), Heather (Bill) and Ivor (Sherri), her grandchildren, Ryan, Kimberly, Billy, Mallory, Luke, Emily, Leanne, Robin and Laura and her great-grandchildren, Darin, Abby, Xander, Conner, Benjamin, Rosemary, Claire, Maddison, Holly, Evey, Jake and Robert.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so. If desired, a memorial donation can be made to Tomkins House Hospice Huronia in Rosemary's memory.
