Pia DeRose Rossi passed away at the Georgian Bay General Hospital on Sunday February 21, 2021 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Angelo Rossi (predeceased). Loving mother to Marcella Ingriselli and to her husband Gianni. Cherished Nonna Pia to Angelo and his wife Erica, Rosella and her husband Mike Westcott. Proud Bis-nonna to her three “tesori” Josafina, Emelia and Leonetti (Leo). Dear sister of Giulia DeRose Lardo.  Dear sister-in-law of Gina Rossi. Predeceased by her parents Francesco and Marietta DeRose, Sister Elena DeRose and Brother Mario DeRose. She was a much loved zia to many nieces and nephews. Pia had a lot of good friends in life both deceased and living.  She will be greatly missed by all.

She was born May 28, 1928 in Aprilgliano, Guarno, Cosenza, Italy. At the young age of 33, she immigrated to Sudbury Ontario with her daughter to join her husband.  She worked for many years at Ceccutti’s Bakery in Sudbury. She later moved to Midland, Ontario to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was a very simple and humble woman. Her family was what she treasured the most in life. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her great pride and joy. She whole heartedly cared for many friends and was always there for them.

She was a woman of great faith who tried to live by her religious beliefs. There was not a day that she did not say at least one Rosary and pray for all the people in her life.

She was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in seeing people enjoy her food. She looked forward to and loved family and friends gathering at the dinner table.

Pia was very talented and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  Many family members and friends are left with a memory of a sweater or blanket she lovingly made for them.

She will be missed by all those who knew her and never be forgotten.

She wanted these words to be part of her obituary.
“Nella vita é bene non fare male, Ma é più male non fare bene.”
(In Life, it is good not to do wrong, but it is more wrong not to do good.)

Pia’s family would like to thank Dr. Hervieux, Dr. Stuart and the nursing staff at GBGH for their care and compassion during this sad time for us.  In Lieu of flowers please donate to Georgian Bay General Hospital or Heart and Stroke

A Funeral Mass will take place at St Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Thursday February 25th at 10 a.m.  with an entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery at 2 p.m.
