July 31, 1931 ~ April 3, 2020 (age 88)
Elizabeth, devoted academic, committed Christian, and true friend to many, died on April 3rd at age 88 in the company of a dear friend.
Elizabeth was born in India, spent her childhood in England and then moved to Canada in her teens. She attended Bishop Strachan School, The University of Toronto (Trinity College) and Oxford University, becoming a professor of Early English at Huron University College in London, Ontario. She retired to Oxford, England where she spent more than 20 years pursuing academic interests, tutoring and being involved in her local church. Elizabeth returned to Canada for the last 18 months of her life, where she was surrounded by caring friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her mother Edith Revell (née Sheppard), father Alfred John Revell and brother Ernest John Revell. Left to celebrate her life are her niece, nephew, cousins and her many, many true friends.
Elizabeth was devoted to her friends and her local Christian community. Her deep faith inspired many acts of charity, goodwill and humanitarianism. As someone who spoke 11 languages and had friends around the world, Elizabeth’s interests were as varied as the experiences she had and the people she met. She had the rare ability to immediately take a deep and personal interest in people’s lives around her. Without true friendship like Elizabeth’s, life would be nothing.
Cremation has taken place, Services are to follow. In the spirit of Elizabeth’s wide range of interests and devotions, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
