Peter Ladage, 58, born in Grimsby, Ontario but lived the better part of the last thirty years in Midland, passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2021 from a heart attack.

Peter was a computer programmer, musician, artist, and environmental advocate who was passionate about getting involved in his community supporting sustainability and social justice. In 2008, Peter suffered a brain injury, which left him with great physical challenges. It may have changed the pace of his life, but it did not dampen his enthusiasm for exploring the world or cherishing his family and friends. Peter was devoted to his beloved partner Susan Hirst and enjoyed the calm of their life together watching documentaries, listening to Canadian musicians and classical music, playing scrabble, getting coffee at Grounded, or watching Susan garden as he blogged, read, or created digital art. Peter was a supportive and loving father to his three children, Johannes Wesley Ladage, Cady McLaughlin (Gavin), and Chloe Moyer, whom he always inspired to be creative and kind. Peter is survived by sister Peggy Pickett (Jack), nieces Sarah (Graeme) and Haleigh (Oliver), and grandson Cameron McLaughlin. Predeceased by parents Johannes (Hans) Ladage, Elizabeth Tunnacliffe, and brother Christopher Ladage.

The family are grateful to the staff of Hillcrest Village who cared for Peter during the last year, especially during a pandemic. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held when it is possible to do so. Condolences can be left on the LeClair Cremation website. Peter would have appreciated donations made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada. He is forever loved and deeply missed.
