April 21, 1940 ~ September 19, 2021 (age 81)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of (William) Lawrence Currie on September 19, 2021. Leaving behind his loving wife of 56 years Dolores (nee Lancaster), daughters Christine (Al) and Jennifer (Lindsay). Grandchildren Rachelle, Christian, Dane and Nolan. Also left behind are his extended family and many cherished friends. Mertyl and William Currie welcomed Lawrence into their family on April 21st, 1940 in Barrie, ON. From that moment on, he developed the art of teasing with his older siblings Jack and Mayme. He worked hard in a variety of jobs before settling in as a 35 year career with Malony’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
A man of few words, he was well known for his great sense of humor, his love for his family, his loyal friendships, home brew beer and slappy hugs. He grew up playing hockey and his love for sports never wared as he continued to golf and curl late into life. His favorite things were spending time with grandchildren, live music, watching sports on TV, cooking his annual beets an making his homemade spaghetti sauce for everyone who would drop in. He once communicated to his daughters that on of his greatest accomplishments in his life was to provide a better life for his family and cherished that his daughters continued that for his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to Hospice Huronia-Tomkins House in Penetang. A celebration of life will be planned in the spring.
