The Huronia Grey Jays SLO-Pitch team is looking for a few good men and women.

Coach Dave McLaughlin says the team should appeal to those ages 55 and up, who are looking for some fun, camaraderie and a little friendly competition.

“The team gives senior players a chance to keep playing baseball and stay active after their regular playing days are behind them,” McLaughlin said.

“It provides recreational competition and at the same time a social opportunity. Our team emphasizes camaraderie and fun first...while doing our best on the field."

McLaughlin said would-be players will find a friendly and supportive group of people, who also get together during the off-season for fun activities like card nights and skating.

He added: “ We really do become a social group.”

The team plays its home games at the Perkinsfield Park ball diamond with away games in Barrie, Wasaga Beach and Orillia with games also possible in Bracebridge and Huntsville.

“Our season lasts from the first Tuesday after the May long weekend and ends the first week of September,” McLaughlin said, noting games are Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. with practices occurring Thursday at about 10 a.m..

Information on the team can be found on its Facebook page (Huronia Grey Jays). For additional information, contact McLaughlin by email at [email protected].
