Ontario Public Health is reporting 108 new cases of COVID-19 in the province this morning.

This comes on the heels of Friday's report when 131 new cases were confirmed.

One more person has also died from the virus in the last 24 hours.

There have now been 2,797 deaths from the virus since mid-January. The majority of the deaths — 1,804 — have been people living in long-term care facilities.

Saturday's new numbers bring the total tally of cases to 41,287 in Ontario since the pandemic began. Of those more than 41,000 cases, health officials say 37,487 people have recovered, which is an increase of 90 since the last report on Friday.

Across the province, more than 2.7 million COVID tests have been completed, including almost 29,000 in the last 24 hours. There are just shy of 18,000 cases currently under investigation.

Forty people are currently hospitalized in Ontario and being treated for COVID-19. Thirteen of those patients are in intensive care units and seven are on ventilators.

Meanwhile, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, there have now been a total of 680 coronavirus cases confirmed in the Simcoe-Muskoka region, with a large majority of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 627 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died. There are 13 active local cases, and one person is still hospitalized.
