When Orillia OPP Const. Martin Hill arrived at work this morning, he was greeted by sounds he’s not accustomed to hearing at the Peter Street detachment - meowing.
So, like a good officer, he investigated. He discovered a black kitten stuck inside a skunk trap near one of the portables on the detachment’s property.
The kitten was scared.
“She hissed at me and when I pulled the kitten out of the trap, it scratched me,” said Hill. “It was just frightened.”
Hill said after rescuing the kitten, “some pets and some food” were provided. Soon, the six- to eight-week old feline became “affectionate.”
Hill used his personal social media account to try to find a home for the adorable kitten, that was soon purring from within a box inside the OPP detachment.
It didn’t take long for several people to offer a loving home.
He and fellow OPP Const. Scott Williams made the furry delivery to an ecstatic Orillia resident, Cherise Korf.
“As soon as she picked up the kitten, it just nestled into her arms,” said Hill. "It was nice to see."
