Public Health Ontario reported 887 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates noted 560 recoveries and three new deaths.
The Dec. 6 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- 8,439 active cases, up from 8,115 reported yesterday.
- 137 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. However, this number is incomplete as more than 10 per cent of Ontario hospitals don't report bed census data on weekends.
- There are 149 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 19 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 88 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 13 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- Among the new cases reported today are 373 unvaccinated, 24 partially vaccinated, and 426 fully vaccinated individuals. 64 cases were reported with vaccination status unknown.
- 11,295,706 people in Ontario (77 per cent of the population) are fully vaccinated, four per cent of the population is partially vaccinated.
- The vaccination status of hospitalized patients is not updated on Sunday or Monday.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 13.8 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 5.9 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 3.8 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 25,981 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 3.5 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported today, 139 are from Toronto, 60 are from Peel, 73 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, five are from Grey-Bruce, and 60 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 40 newborns to four-year-olds, 163 kids ages five to 11, 66 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 258 people between 20 and 39 years old, 217 people between 40 and 59 years old, 130 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 12 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 624,384 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 605,918 recoveries and 10,027 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 31,492 people have been hospitalized with COVID (up from 31,427 on Friday) and 6,221 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,237.7 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 42.2 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 17.9 per cent compared to the week of Nov. 20.

Simcoe-Muskoka
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 117 new COVID cases in its report Friday.
There are currently 705 active cases in the region.
Twenty-nine people from Simcoe County and one person from Muskoka District are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 15,920 cases of COVID-19 with 14,935 of those cases recovered and 280 cases ending in death.
The region's weekly incidence rate is 95.8 cases per 100,000 for the week beginning Nov. 26, which is up by 16.5 per cent compared to the week beginning Nov. 20.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit weekly incidence rate is 23.3 cases per 100,000, which is up by 15.4 per cent compared to the week of Nov. 20.
