Public Health Ontario has reported at least 76 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, but data from some health units is missing for today's summary.
According to the province's public health agency, there were 11 health units not included in today's report, so the new cases confirmed today could be underestimated.
The province confirmed one death today, an individual between the ages of 60 and 79 years old. There have now been 2,793 COVID-related deaths reported in Ontario, which is 6.8 per cent of all lab-confirmed cases. There have been 1,912 people over 80 years old who have died, which is more than 31 per cent of all lab-confirmed cases in that age group (6,069 cases).
Of the health units that did report new cases for today's provincial summary, Toronto reported the highest with 21 new cases, followed by Peel reporting 19 new cases, and Ottawa reporting 11 new cases.
According to data provided by Public Health Ontario, 60 per cent of all lab-confirmed cases reported in the province so far are individuals between the ages of 20 and 59 years old.
There have been 41,048 cases reported in the province so far, and of those, 37,291 are reported recovered (90.8 per cent) and 2,793 have ended in death (6.8 per cent).
Based on data provided in today's epidemiological summary, there are at least 964 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario currently.
Since last report, public health labs have processed 25,917 coronavirus tests, bringing the cumulative total in Ontario to 2,682,845 tests completed.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 674 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 642 of those cases located in Simcoe County.
The local health unit was one of the 11 not included in today's epidemiological summary, but the health unit updates local case numbers every day in the early afternoon. Typically, the provincial report lags behind the local daily report.
There are 625 cases now recovered and 37 people have died in the region.
There are still 12 active cases in the county including residents from Barrie (5), New Tecumseth (1), Innisfil (3), Essa (1), Penetanguishene (1), and Ramara (1). One person from New Tecumseth and one person from Ramara is hospitalized with COVID-19, neither are in intensive care.
In Simcoe-Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 113.4 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
