GO train schedules back on track today: Metrolinx

'We aren’t expecting planned cancellations at this point today,' says Metrolinx spokesperson

There was good news for local commuters this morning  and hopefully the rest of Tuesday, too  as no delays are expected to disrupt travel on GO Transit's Barrie line.

This comes one day after morning GO trains were cancelled on Monday due to low staffing levels.

On Tuesday, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins said it appears staffing issues have been rectified on the Barrie line.

“We aren’t expecting planned cancellations at this point today," she said this morning.

On Monday, two early morning GO trains were cancelled due to what Aikins said were staffing levels “impacted by both the mandatory vaccination policy as well as staff absences from illness, vacation, etc.”

Commuters affected by Monday's train cancellations were accommodated on buses.

Aikins also noted that ridership is still below 50 per cent since the pandemic began.

On Nov. 1, nearly 100 bus trips were cancelled in the GTA and Hamilton areas as the Metrolinx transit agency began to place staff unvaccinated against COVID-19 on unpaid leave.

Metrolinx is the Crown agency that manages the province's GO Transit system.
