Georgian Bay Garden Tour a blooming hit (12 photos)

This year's popular annual event doubled as a fundraiser for Hospice Huronia - Tomkins House

On Saturday, the gardening community in Midland and surrounding areas got together to support a good cause.

Proceeds from this year's annual Georgian Bay Garden Tour will benefit Hospice Huronia - Tomkins House. Hospice supports families that are dealing with life- threatening illnesses, while offering care and companionship to those who have lost their loved ones.

Hospice Huronia has been poviding services to the residents of North Simcoe since their inception in 1993. North Simcoe includes the Towns of Midland and Penetanguishene, Townships of Tay and Tiny, part of Springwater Township and Beausoleil First Nation. The organization also serve parts of Georgian Bay, Oro-Medonte, and Severn Townships.

The garden tour originally started to support local libraries but has adapted over the years to better help the community.

There was a Huronia Hospice volunteer at each featured garden to provide information about hospice services.

“The most rewarding thing is to be able to help people at that time in their life," said Fran Hill who has been working with Huronia Hospice for 20 years.

The garden tour gives locals a chance to help those in need and to show off their amazing gardening skills.
