Emotional health expert to speak at Midland high school

Members of the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) community are invited to attend one of two presentations focused on ‘Understanding Teens from the Inside Out’ in April.

Hannah Beach, an educator, author, and emotional health consultant, will provide practical strategies to support children and youth facing emotional health crises and behavioural problems.

On April 12, Beach will present at Georgian Bay District Secondary School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This event is being offered in partnership with the school councils from Elmvale District High School, Georgian Bay District Secondary School, Mundy’s Bay Public School, and Wyevale Central Public School. Georgian Bay District Secondary School is located at 925 Hugel Ave. in Midland.

On April 13, Beach will present at Twin Lakes Secondary School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Individuals interested in attending are asked to register in advance. This event is being offered in partnership with the school councils from East Oro Public School, Harriett Todd Public School, Twin Lakes Secondary School, and Uptergrove Public School. Twin Lakes Secondary School is located at 381 Birch St. in Orillia.

These events are funded by the Ministry of Education through the Parents Reaching Out grants program, which is administered by the SCDSB’s parent involvement committee.

Beach is an award-winning educator, author, emotional health consultant, and keynote speaker. She is the co-author of Reclaiming Our Students: Why Children Are More Anxious, Aggressive, and Shut Down Than Ever — And What We Can Do About It. She was recognized by the Canadian Human Rights Commission in 2017 as one of five featured changemakers in Canada.
