Culture in the Heart of Georgian Bay has a new look.

Unveiled this week, the new Culture Alliance logo incorporates elements of the joint culture committee’s members’ logos as well as aspects of their respective heritage and history.

“It is a beautiful logo that gracefully intertwines and represents the communities served by the Culture Alliance,” Tiny Township councillor Cindy Hastings, who serves as the alliance's incoming committee chair. “The logo is timeless and will serve the Culture Alliance for many years to come.”

The Culture Alliance was formed in 2019 by Beausoleil First Nation, the towns of Midland and Penetanguishene and the townships of Tay and Tiny to celebrate, foster and promote cultural resources in our area.

Karen Mealing, cultural development coordinator with the Town of Midland, said the organization worked to complete the project with a local graphic designer "who gave us an excellent price."

Mealing said the pricing was part of a package where two logos were created, one for the Culture Alliance and another for the upcoming Creative Communities Culture Conference.

"They provided some of the work as in-kind and some at a discount," she said. "The cost for the Cultural Alliance for each logo was less $200....an exceptional value for such talented work.  We are so fortunate to have so many great community-minded businesses in our area."

The logo incorporates the feather and turquoise from the Beausoleil First Nation logo and the various shades of blue from the Tay, Tiny and Penetanguishene logo.  Additionally, it includes the fleur-de-lis from Penetanguishene and Tiny and the yellow and sail from Midland. the waves symbolize the connection that each community has to Georgian Bay.

The Culture Alliance is currently undertaking a variety of projects, including the Inspirational Peoples Project banner program and the aforementioned culture conference scheduled to take place in an online format in November.
