The Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce has come up with a Christmas promotion with help from local retailers.
"Last year, we had great success with our Rally for Restaurants program, which encouraged the community to support our local eateries," chamber general manager Cathy Tait explained.
"Now, we are supporting retailers."
Here's how it works.
The chamber purchased $20 gift certificates for 35 of its retail members and is now giving these certificates away, no strings attached, to shoppers in the community.
"We are asking shoppers to stop by our office, show us a receipt of $20 or more from any local business and they will be given one of the Rally for Retail gift certificates while quantities last," Tait said.
