Barber shop honouring soldiers, veterans with free cuts

'It's a simple way to give back to our community and show some support,' says Jody Percy at History Barbershop Co. in downtown Barrie

History Barbershop Co. is offering free classic haircuts to veterans and active military personnel until Remembrance Day.

Jody Percy, who is the manager for the company's Dunlop Street East location in downtown Barrie, says that not only will veterans get free cuts, but so will many other heroes.

“We’re giving away free services to first-responders, active military personnel and veterans with our junior barbers and apprentices,” Percy said. “From the 8th to Friday, all of our barbers will give free services for active military and veterans in honour of Remembrance Day.”

Percy said he was proud to work for a company that helps in this way and realizes it was the least someone could do.

“It's a simple way to give back to our community and show some support. It's pretty cool to do this here being that we are so close to Base Borden,” Percy said. “We have a lot of military personnel who come in and they already do so much for us, it is an honour to be able to do this for them.”

If you are an eligible retired or active military service member, book online during the dates and let your barber know at the time of the haircut and you get it for free.

The special will happen at History Barbershop Co. locations in Barrie and Midland.
