The Culture Alliance is hosting a 12-week business skills development program for creative local residents this spring.

The Artrepreneur program is offered in collaboration with the York Region Arts Council and is a way for individuals to turn their creative passions into a business. Artrepreneur was offered in the Heart of Georgian Bay area in 2018 and 2020.

“Artrepreneur is an excellent and very affordable way for creatives to invest in themselves,” said Michel Payment, chair of the Culture Alliance and a musician, who participated in the program in 2020. “Participants learn from business experts in a hands-on manner and develop a support network with others in the program.”

Program participants in this program will develop a business plan based on what they learn during the weekly sessions. Topics include goal setting, market research, social media, marketing and branding, legal obligations, budgeting and presentation skills.

Artrepreneur begins on March 7, 2023 and the weekly sessions take place Tuesday evenings until May 23. The program will wrap up on June 29 with an expo.

The fee is $150, plus HST, for residents of Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay and Tiny and members of Beausoleil First Nation and $200, plus HST, for those located outside of the North Simcoe region.
