The global pandemic will have had the effect of provoking an awakening of consciousness accompanied by a wave of human solidarity that rekindles in us the confidence that we are not alone. This is why the pastoral theme of this new school year is "Cultivating Hope.” It is by turning towards hope that we make a vow of trust for a better world. Throughout the school year, students along with staff will find new strengths to move forward together.

The students will return to school gradually, with smaller groups starting every day of the week. This staggered start will allow the students to familiarise themselves with the new school routines and measures that have been put in place to ensure that the school premises are safe and conducive to learning. As of September 14, learning will begin for all students, whether they are in school or attending classes virtually.

The Csc MonAvenir is home to more students. For the 2020-2021 school year, close to 17,700 students are enrolled in its 63 schools. Although the pandemic crisis has prompted families to delay the start of their young child's schooling, and despite the decline in immigration, more families are choosing a French-language Catholic education for their child. This is a two per cent increase over last year.

André Blais, Director of Education, says he is "serene and confident in the face of this unprecedented back to school. In all sincerity, we are ready to welcome you. The schools have been completely disinfected, prepared and inspected. Staff members have benefitted from training and are aware of the new measures to be implemented in their classrooms.

As professionals in the field of education, all Csc MonAvenir staff members recognize the importance of returning to school to support the psychosocial and emotional development of students. Returning to a routine, whether physically in school or through distance learning, is essential to the well-being of all kids, young and old. “

"Csc MonAvenir is proud to keep its commitment to Francophone and Catholic families to offer a welcoming school environment where your child will feel loved and where he or she can reach his or her full potential. On behalf of the school trustees, I wish to express our great appreciation and gratitude to all Csc MonAvenir staff members who have worked tirelessly to prepare for this new school year.

We interpret the large number of students returning to us this year, and the new students who join us, both in person and online, as a sign of confidence in us. The entire team at Csc MonAvenir thanks you and will do its best to ensure that your child has an excellent school year," says Melinda Chartrand, Csc MonAvenir’s Chairperson.

In terms of novelty and new school, Csc MonAvenir is delighted to open the virtual doors of its first two distance learning schools. Classes at the École catholique MonAvenir virtuel will begin on Sept. 14, 2020.

Approximately 12 per cent of students have opted for synchronous learning or virtual learning, which represents approximately 2,200 students of all levels. This is why the Csc MonAvenir has created two new virtual schools this year. These two new schools each have a principal, Mme Christine Côté for the preparatory and elementary level (Kindergarten to Grade 3) and Mme Vicky Thiffault for the intermediate level (Grades 4 to 8).

Whether the learning mode is conventional, hybrid or virtual, everyone is an integral part of the Csc MonAvenir family. By cultivating this hope, all staff members are happy and ready to begin a school year filled with success, health and joy!

Staff and trustees wish students and parents a 2020-2021 school year anchored in hope!
