Dear Editor,

If is wasn’t for snowmobiles and the OFSC (Ontario Federation Of Snowmobile Clubs), most trails in this province wouldn’t exist.

The complete trail through Midland was negotiated with CN well before the municipalities jumped on the bandwagon. Without snowmobiles either grooming or packing down trails, they would be virtually unusable, as people won’t walk through knee-deep snow.

Snowmobile trails are heavily used by walkers, skiers and save municipalities thousands in maintenance costs. Midland,Tiny and Penetanguishene rely on the (local) snowmobile club to maintain there trails.

If you're looking to pick on someone, check the budgets of our local municipalities for trail development or maintenance.

A few (I suspect) new to Midland residents are whining about e-bikes.

Look at the trails, there has been zero maintenance on Midland trails, they are overgrown and you can’t see around corners. Sign money would have been better spent brushing back trails and corners.

Speeding on trails is mainly from a small few. Unlike all other trail users, snowmobiles bring huge dollars into the community and a large volunteer base for maintenance.

Not sure why you were trying to throw snowmobiles under the bus.

Patrick Murray
