Dear Editor,

I have been following the e-bike restrictions letters in Midland Today and I cannot express my disappointment enough.

I am a long-time resident of Midland and walk/bike the trails daily. I am also a recent e-bike owner.

Once again Midland council has jumped to make a decision and targeted the wrong problem. Restricting e-bikes from the use of the trails will not make them safer. Restricting the speed of ALL riders will.

Another contributing factor to safety is bikers not using their bells, walkers taking over the entire pathway and bikers not riding in single file.

The decision of the council also forces e-bikers to use the roads. This too is a safety hazard.

I did call the town and have had clarification to the e-bike rule. There are a lot of exceptions and we qualify to use the trails. My issue is the lack of communication and education.
