I have heard and been reading Doug Ford’s proposal regarding Bill 23. Mr. Ford was chosen as the premier of all of Ontario, and as premier, it’s his duty to decide what is best for all of Ontario long term and not just for the Toronto area.

Since there is a need for more housing, why doesn’t he look a little further as to space available? Ontario is a huge province with plenty of land space available that is not suitable for agriculture, period. Why not build there? And keep our good land for future food production, especially around the big cities. Developers can make this possible, but only if the law is there to enforce it. Allow them only to build on very marginal land (i.e., north and east of Toronto). Developers have to pay for all infrastructure, which they do now anyway. Develop not only housing but also commercial and industry as a brand-new city and the workforce will follow, thereby preserving the vitally needed best lands for future food production. Once paved over, it’s gone forever.
