Two new COVID cases confirmed in Simcoe County today

Among the two new cases of COVID-19 confirmed by the region's health unit today is a Barrie youth. 

The boy is under 18 and the source of transmission for his case is still under investigation. He is the third Barrie youth among the health unit's reported cases this week. The other two were girls under 18 and both were close contacts of other known cases. 

The other new case today is a senior woman (between 65 and 79 years old) from Bradford. The transmission source for her case is also under investigation. This is the third case of COVID reported in Bradford West Gwillimbury this week. The other two cases, both males between 18 and 34 years old remain under investigation. 

So far this week, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 15 cases of COVID-19. Of those, 11 have been Barrie residents, three have been Bradford residents, and one was a Wasaga Beach resident. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has now reported a total of 695 coronavirus cases in the region, with 663 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 630 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died.

There are 28 cases of COVID in Simcoe County not reported recovered, including 17 in Barrie, three in Bradford, one in New Tecumseth, two in Innisfil, two in Wasaga Beach, two in Essa, and one in Penetanguishene. Two people are hospitalized.
