Tiny Township municipal offices opening with protocols in place

The Township has implemented various protocols to limit unnecessary risk to staff and residents

The Township of Tiny Municipal Offices have reopened to the public by appointment only with health and safety protocols in place to ensure the safety of Township staff, residents and contractors.

Sewage System Department staff continue to predominantly operate under a remote work protocol.

The following is the current service level for permits and inspections conducted by the Sewage System Department until further notice:

Sewage System Permit Applications:

  • Sewage System Permit applications can be submitted via the Municipal Office drop-box or by mail. Please note that Sewage System Department staff are on winter hours and can be reached by phone on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Outside of these hours please leave a message and we will return your call. Sewage System Department staff can also be contacted by email at [email protected] with any questions
  • For an application to be processed, it must be deemed complete. To ensure completeness, please follow the requirements on the application
  • Applications can be found on our website at www.tiny.ca/SewageApplications

Payments for Sewage System Permits:

  • Payment must accompany an application. Applications placed in the municipal office drop-box or submitted by mail must be accompanied by a cheque (payable to the Township of Tiny)

Sewage System Inspections:

  • Exterior inspections require two metres of physical distancing to be maintained at all times
  • If the inspector feels at any time that the above requirement is not being complied with, he/she may leave the inspection prior to completion and charge a reinspection fee to the property owner. There will be zero tolerance for non-compliance with the new health and safety protocols, and no warnings or exemptions will be given
  • If you would like to book a Sewage System Inspection, please phone our office number at 705-527-0119 to speak with staff or leave a message. The messages are checked on a regular basis

All procedures put in place have been done so to limit unnecessary risk to staff and residents. As this situation is continually evolving, we will continue to monitor our protocols and notification will be provided on any change to the above-noted temporary service levels.

The following is the current service level for permits and inspections conducted by the Building Department until further notice:

Building permit applications: altered level of service

  • Building permit applications will be accepted and processed after a virtual or in-person meeting has taken place. Please call 705-527-9789 to book your meeting, where further instructions will be given on our process during this time. In order to process an application, it must be deemed complete, to ensure completion please follow the requirement on the first page of the application. Applications can be found on our website at www.tiny.ca/buildingpermits
  • Once a permit application is received the building staff will review and respond by email in regards to outstanding items if applicable. Please provide an e-mail on your application form if you have one
  • Email communication is preferred; however, phone calls and voicemails will continue to be received and responded to

Payments for building permits: altered level of service

  • Payment for building permit fees and development charges will be accepted by cheque only (payable to the Township of Tiny). Additional information on the amount due and process will be discussed during your scheduled meeting

Building inspections: altered level of service

  • At this time, limited building inspections will be conducted by our building inspectors. As of Jan. 13, 2021, building inspections will only be occurring for those projects identified in the current Provincial List of Construction projects
  • Building inspections require 48 hours notice
  • Exterior inspections require two metre social distancing to be maintained at all times
  • Interior inspection of a non-occupied space requires that only one person (representative) is permitted in the building with the inspector during the inspection. This person and the inspector must wear a non-surgical mask and maintain two metre social distancing. Otherwise the representative must exit the building during the inspection
  • Occupied space inspections require that the COVID-19 Inspection Pre-Screening Form must be answered by the resident(s) of the building. If they answer yes to any question or the inspector feels unsafe we will not enter the building and the inspection can only be done virtually when possible. Only one person (representative) is permitted in the building with the inspector during the inspection. This person and the inspector must where a non-surgical mask and maintain two metre social distancing. Otherwise the representative must exit the building during the inspection. The inspector must also wear disposable gloves. The inspector will request that any applicable doors, hatches and lights already be open and any required ladders already be in place to minimize touch points
  • Please note, if the inspector ever feels that the requirements of the procedure are not being complied with they may leave the inspection prior to completion and charge a reinspection fee. There will be zero tolerance and no warnings or exemptions given.

Planning and Development staff continue to predominantly operate under a remote work protocol.

The following are the current services available through the Planning and Development Department until further notice:

Planning inquiries:

  • Email communication is preferred; however, phone calls and voicemails will continue to be received and responded to

Planning applications:

  • Applications can be found on our website at www.tiny.ca/PlanningApplications
  • It is recommended that an electronic copy of the application be provided to Planning and Development staff by email in advance of submission for preliminary review. Once Planning and Development staff have reviewed the application a hardcopy is to be submitted in the drop-box at the Township Municipal Office or by mail
  • If applicants require the application to be commissioned by the Township, please contact Pamela Zimmerman, Planning Administrative Assistant at [email protected]
  • Once a planning application is received, Planning and Development Staff will process and queue accordingly

Payments for planning applications:

  • Payment for planning applications will be accepted by cheque only (payable to the Township of Tiny). Payment is to accompany your application when submitting via the drop-box or by mail. If there are any questions with regard to the required fees, please contact Planning an Development staff

Planning public meetings:

  • After the lifting of the emergency declaration, at the Special Meeting of Council on Aug. 17, 2020, the Township of Tiny Council amended its Procedure Bylaw to allow for the full electronic participation of Council Members at Special and Regular Committee of the Whole and Regular and Special Council Meetings under Bill 197, the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Act, 2020
  • Council Planning Public Meetings will be held electronically as required and continue this way until further notice
  • Committee of Adjustment Meetings will be held as scheduled electronically as required and continue this way until further notice
