The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed four new COVID cases in the region, including three in Simcoe County.

Two Barrie residents are on the list of new cases posted by the health unit today. They include one man between 18 and 34 years old and one woman between 45 and 64 years old. Both are close contact transmissions.

The third Simcoe County case is a man between 18 and 34 years old from New Tecumseth.

A Collingwood case reported yesterday has been moved to a different health unit and removed from the Simcoe Muskoka list. A case reported last week in Collingwood was also transferred to a different health unit earlier this week.

The health unit has reported Bay Haven Senior Care Community in Collingwood is currently experiencing a respiratory outbreak, though it is not specified as COVID-19. In previous interviews, Dr. Charles Gardner, medical officer of health for Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, said COVID testing is done for any respiratory outbreak and any positive test result is reported.

The fourth case reported by the health unit today is a woman between 45 and 64 years old from Bracebridge. Her case is related to an institutional outbreak. The Pines Long Term Care Residence in Bracebridge is currently in an active COVID-19 outbreak.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 845 cases of COVID-19, with 787 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 724 cases listed as recovered. There are no hospitalizations reported on the health unit website. Thirty-eight people have died.
