Three new COVID cases confirmed in Simcoe County

The local health unit has reported three new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County residents today. 

All three cases are female, and include an Innisfil and a Springwater resident – both between the ages of 18 and 34, and a Tiny Township resident between the ages of 45 and 64. The Tiny and the Springwater case transmission sources are under investigation and the Innisfil case was transmitted through close contact of another case. 

The health unit hasn't reported a case in Springwater since June 22, and had reported all previously-confirmed cases as recovered. 

Collingwood is the only municipality in Simcoe County with zero local cases reported in June and July. The last case confirmed in Collingwood was reported May 19.

So far this week, the health unit has reported seven new cases in Simcoe County, with four Monday, none on Tuesday and Wednesday, and three today. 

An order from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, has mandated all businesses and indoor public spaces in Simcoe County and Muskoka District require customers and employees to wear masks. That order is effective as of Monday, July 13. 

There are now 25 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County including three people hospitalized, according to the health unit's epidemiological report. 

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 609 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region to date. 

Thirty-six people have died and the health unit has reported 547 recoveries. The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 102.4 cases per 100,000 people in the population. 

The provincial average incidence rate is 244.5 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
