The County of Simcoe is accepting nominations for deserving recipients of the 2020 Virtual Newcomer Recognition Awards. The deadline for this year’s submissions is Oct. 1, 2020, so act now to recognize community champions in Simcoe County.

For the past seven years, the Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) has hosted this spectacular annual event to recognize outstanding community leaders and champions who take decisive action to enhance the lives of newcomers in Simcoe County.

Due to the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 medical pandemic, the eighth annual Newcomer Recognition Awards celebration is moving online and will take place on Nov. 19, 2020 with a modified and safe approach.

Application submissions should be returned via fax to (705) 725-9539, or email to [email protected]. Individuals and/or organizations/businesses can be nominated for the following categories:

  • Community Champion
  • Immigrant Artist
  • Immigrant Entrepreneur
  • Immigrant Mentor
  • Service Excellence Award
  • Immigrant Youth
  • Youth Community Champion
  • *New - Ethno-cultural Group Award
  • Culturally Diverse Workforce (organization/business)
  • Welcoming Work Environment (organization/business)
  • Marketing and Outreach (organization/business)
  • Multiculturalism through Education (educator/school)
