A Midland printing company is trying to help out the little guy during the current pandemic.

Midland Printers is offering free COVID-19 signs to area small businesses.

“We're trying to take some of the pressure off the smaller local businesses that are reopening so we're offering a small bundle of free signage to folks in the Midland/Penetang area,” said graphic designer Trevor Wishart.

Wishart said he and company owner Donna Ansell felt it was “a little something to help our friends that might be struggling.”

Throughout the pandemic, the long-established printing firm has remained open, but with limited hours.

“We were deemed an essential service because we do printing for the hospital, real estate and other businesses and organizations,” he said.

And while the sign package that includes signage on social distancing and handwashing isn’t overly expensive at $6 a bundle, Wishart said by creating it and giving it away it takes away one thing businesses now have to consider when starting up again.

“We thought why don’t we just give this away to help our community,” he said. “We wanted to do what we could to give people a hand.”

Wishart said the initiative has garnered a huge response with more than 50 area businesses picking up a bundle so far.

“We’re doing it for Mom and Pop shops in the area,” he said. “For the most part, it’s been companies we know.”
