OPP respond to 10 crashes on area roads over the weekend, including a rollover

No serious injuries were reported by police, who also conducted five RIDE checks

Uniform members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay Detachment were tasked with investigating ten vehicle crashes over the Oct. 15-19, 2020 time period. Six of those crashes were minor in nature and three of which were fail to remain incidents being reported as follows;

  • A maroon Subaru Impressa was struck while parked on Manly Street, Midland during the hours of 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2020
     
  • A blue 2020 Ford F150 pick up was struck while parked in a number of locations in the Town of Midland during the evening of Oct. 17, 2020
     
  • The owner of a white Toyota Yaris reported that while parked over the weekend in the Huronia Mall parking lot the vehicle was struck in the front by an unknown vehicle.

Four crashes resulted in injuries to the occupants as follows.

  • On Oct. 18, 2020 at 12:48 p.m. officers attended a single vehicle rollover on Fuller Avenue in the Town of Midland resulting in County of Simcoe Paramedic Services to attend along with Midland Fire Service to access and treat the two occupants.

  • Oct. 17, 2020 at 3:31 p.m. an officer attended a report of an lone motorcyclist who had gone down on South Bay Road, Georgian Bay Township after hitting a patch of gravel on the roadway. County of Simcoe Paramedic services attended to treat the male driver with minor injuries.

  • Officers attended Simcoe County Road 27 at Baseline Road in Tiny Township after a vehicle crashed into another vehicle on Highway 27 turning onto Baseline Road. County of Simcoe Paramedic Services attended and treated the involved persons for minor injuries. A charge of Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act was issued to a involved driver by the OPP investigator.

  • At 2:58 p.m. Oct. 15, 2020 OPP officers were dispatched to a report of crash involving an E-Bike and a vehicle at the intersection of Seventh and Yonge Streets, Midland. The driver of the E-Bike suffered minor injuries and the vehicle driver was charged with Failing to Yield under the Highway Traffic Act

Uniform officers also conducted five ( R.I.D.E.) Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere check stops over the weekend checking for sobriety of 253 drivers in the interest of road safety.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways.
