No local COVID-19 cases amongst 26 reported by health unit today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today. 

Among the new cases are five Barrie residents among the new confirmed cases today, including one man between 18 and 34 years old whose case is linked to a workplace outbreak and one man in the same age group whose case was community-acquired. The other three cases, still under investigation, include two men between 18 and 34 years old and a woman over the age of 80. 

There are three Clearview residents, including two men between 18 and 34 years old whose transmission is attributed to close contact, and a woman between 45 and 64 years old whose transmission is still under investigation. There have been eight new Clearview cases reported this week so far, which is one-third of all the cases reported in the township since March. 

There are three youth cases reported in Innisfil today, including two boys and a girl under the age of 18 years old. There are also two Innisfil adults, a woman between 18 and 34 years old and a woman between 45 and 64 years old on the list of new cases. The transmission sources for all five Innisfil cases are still under investigation.

In Bradford West-Gwillimbury, which is tied with New Tecumseth for the highest incidence rate in the county, there are two new cases. A boy under 18 and a man between 45 and 64 years old. The transmission sources for both cases are still under investigation.

There are six new cases in New Tecumseth and one new COVID-19 outbreak reported in the municipality at Riverwood Senior Living in Alliston. 

The New Tecumseth residents among today's case list include a woman between 18 and 34 years old (workplace outbreak), a man between 18 and 34 years old (travel), a man between 45 and 64 years old (close contact), two men between 65 and 79 years old (under investigation) and a man between 65 and 79 years old (community-acquired).

Simcoe Manor long-term care home in Beeton has been in a COVID-19 outbreak since the end of September, but the county has reported no new cases in staff or residents since Oct. 18.

The remaining five cases included in today's health unit report include an Essa woman between 45 and 64 years old (under investigation), a Severn woman between 35 and 44 years old (close contact), a Springwater woman between 18 and 34 years old (under investigation), an Adjala-Tosorontio woman between 45 and 64 years old (close contact), and an Adjala-Tosorontio man between 65 and 79 years old (close contact). 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,352 cases of COVID-19, with 1,273 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,125 cases listed as recovered. Six people are currently hospitalized. The health unit has recorded 49 deaths.

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 241 cases per 100,000 people.
